First Birthday Parties
It was hard to imagine this day would come, but you've looked forward to this milestone: Your baby is turning One!
It's your chance to shower your baby with well thought out presents and his or hers very own birthday party.
When my little girl turned One I was so excited for her. Visitors in the form of family and neigbors came over with gifts throughout the day. My little one did not know what was happening to her! I can only imagine what was going on in her little head. During the party she got tired and flustered. Late in the afternoon, as a another toddler handed her a gift she burst out into tears......not exactly my idea of a happy birthday girl!
My mom nodded knowlingly when I told her my experience......my daughter was just simply overwhelmed!

Tips:
As you plan your babies' first birthday party try to keep it short, as to not wear out your little one.
-
Make sure your baby had enough sleep before the party
-
Try to explain beforehand to your child that the party is coming up, maybe through picture books and playing games involving wrapped presents
-
Involve your child in the preparations, even though they are small: let them choose some snacks and decorations. Choose characters and themes they recognize
-
Plan the party around nap times
-
It's okay to put your child down for a nap even when visitors are arriving unexpectedly
-
Instead of one big party, why not a few little parties: One for family, one for playgroup friends, one including your own friends, etc.

Above All Enjoy!
After all...they only turn One Once!
